16 Safety Day at Judson / practice fire drill Safety Day at Judson / practice fire drill August 16, 2026 August 16 –the practice Dire Drill–is being done under the tutelage of the Minneapolis Fire Dept. The Mpls Fire Dept will be here to measure the time it takes Judson to vacate thebuilding in an Emergency. After we vacate the building, Hospitalitywill have coffee and treats outside the church. TheFire Dept invites children of all ages to climb on the truck, grab thesteering wheel, and take a picture. A group picture of Judsonsurrounding the truck will commemorate the day. The Judson gardenshave undergone a couple of changes – renovating and replanting the southernsign garden and removing the pebble edge of the Little Free Library garden andreplanting it with wild ginger and sweet woodruff. Thanks to Barb Balcom,Fran Hirsch, Clay Gustafson, Tom Balcom, Cindy Clague, Pam Joern, and YinSimpson for helping at the July workday. During August,the gardens at Judson are in full swing with lots of butterfly and native beevisitors. But the weeds are growing too, and some of the prairie plants arestretching out and taking over. We’ll have a garden workday on Thursday,August 20th at 9:30 – 11:30 am to weed, deadhead, pick up sticks, and touchup the gardens. You don’t need gardening experience to help!
