Judson Church

Bring Your Hopes. Bring Your Doubts. Feed Your Soul

Thriving

We welcome the gifts and participation of all persons regardless of age, gender identity, gender expression, health, race, sexual identity, differing abilities, religious or ethnic background or economic circumstance. You are welcomed and loved just as you are.

We believe God calls us to be stewards of creation, and to build a just world for future generations. We have made a commitment to be a "zero waste" community and have invested in a solar energy solution for our building. Currently we generate 70,000 kWh of solar energy annually.

Our roots are deep in the American Baptist tradition which allows for congregational autonomy. Our congregants represent a diverse cross-section of all belief traditions; life-long American Baptists, Lutheran, Catholic, Buddhist, Southern Baptist or no faith tradition at all. We may call ourselves Christians, Agnostics, or still deciding, yet we commonly share a desire for community and the opportunity to grow and learn from each other.

A thriving liberal congregation in SW Minneapolis

Core Values

We have guests at Judson, not visitors.  We seek to make you feel welcome the moment you step in the door. With tissues in every pew in case you find tears welling up and the best cup of church coffee in the Midwest (this is God's house, not Maxwell House). Come be our guest.

Jesus said to those who have been given much, much is expected. Our world is in need of our attention and actions toward building a community where all voices are heard, resources are shared, and human rights protected. We've got work to do and we'd love to have you join us on the journey.

Our invitation to Bring Your Hopes, Bring Your Doubts, Feed your Soul sounds a lot like Rachel Held Evan's quote, "Every page of Scripture serves as an invitation - to wonder, to wrestle, to surrender to the adventure". We do not proclaim to have all of the answers, but you are invited to join us in community where we do life together.

We believe Jesus did not give his heart to us to make our lives a living hell.  Jesus gave his heart so that we might have joy.  We want as many people as possible to experience joy: the joy of community, the joy of knowing someone has your back, the joy of knowing you are forgiven, loved, and free.

A creative, healing, safe space where all are welcome
