Sixteen of Minnesota’s best writers answer the question: What is it like to live as a person of color in Minnesota? This anthology explores many diverse perspectives and is a creative collection that goes where one wouldn’t imagine. All essays are from local writers and artists.
This was definitely an eye opener for me. I am somewhat used to learning about race issues with Black and Indigenous people, but I forget that there are other groups, such as Asian American (which is actually thirty ethnic groups and over 100 languages) and “mixed” racial designations. The focus on “Minnesota Nice” gives great insight into what it feels like to come to Minnesota from another culture. This book is easy to read.
